We decided to start the project with the money we have. We won't be able to go to all the planned departments, because we only have gathered € 770,00 (out of the € 5000,00 we needed).

We'll organize 3 of the planned 10 events on a lower budget.

Of course we'll show you the pictures afterwards.

Last Saturday we had a public event named ´This is Hip Hop´ in the Central Park of Guatemala City.  100 participants and a lot of public enjoyed a show with b-boys (breakdancers), dj´s, mc´s (rappers) and live graffiti painting.

These public events are really important, because it gives youth the opportunity to showcase their positive talents to the public. This way Trasciende wants to help to reduce the stigmatization of youth, because many people have prejudices about youth because of the youth gangs.

The school is going well, although less kids visit the school (around 300 a week now) due to the rainy season. Most kids live far away from the school and don´t want to get wet ;-)

We changed our plans, we´ll start the workshops in the different communities in January, because we don´t have enough funding yet. We do want to thank all the people that supported us so far though!

Our breakdance school in the centre of Guatemala City is doing really well. Because of that we now have more time to focus on other projects as well.

One of those projects was a visit to a primary school for boys in zone 5 of the capital. This visit surpassed all of our expectations. 100% of the 300 kids that attended the activity were actively involved.

There was a really great atmosphere. We talked about the hip-hop culture and her social network as an alternative for all kids and youth and about being a positive and peaceful person, carrying out the hip-hop philosophy – peace, love, unity and entertainment.

The effect this morning had on all of the kids makes our desire to bring this lifestyle to more public schools – and hopefully with the help of 1% Club also the different departments of Guatemala – bigger every day.

Hip-hop can function as a useful tool for youth to express themselves and to develop themselves on a personal level.
