Over mij / ons:East African Sound ( Da Music Government) started in 2004 as a small sound system in Utrecht City. It was formed by Dj Erick. Dj Erick played at first only African urban music at African clubs and festivals in the Netherlands and outside the Netherlands. Dj Erick performed at Mundiaal festival (Tilburg), Terra festival (Alkmaar), African Festival (Delft), Lets us meet Africa festival (Eindhoven), Spring festival (Utrecht), Radio Bombastica festival (Luanda-Angola), Roffeest (Utrecht)and at concert halls, Nighttown (Rotterdam), Effenaar (Eindhoven), 013 (Tilburg), Paard van Trojen (Den Haag), Water Front (Rotterdam), Tivoli (Utrecht), Dbs (Utrecht). Dj Erick hosted also an African music at Segglo Radio/U-Radio in Utrecht.. After being in the dj business for 10 years that time (2004), Dj Erick decided to professionalize his dj business. This resulted in forming East African Sound. East African Sound is an all round sound system with 4 djs and a MC, all the djs have their own specialization. Dj Killa Lady Nerima (the 1st African Lady dj in the Netherlands) Dj Erick – Da music Gavament Dj Willy – His Excellency The motto “the music government” stems from the ability of East African Sound to play every type of music from black origin. The name East African Sound comes from the part of Africa the initiator of East African sound Dj Erick is coming from. Right now East African Sound is also involved in development projects in African. This year we are going to organize for our project MAYOUTHS, a fund raising in Utrecht under the motto “giving back to the society”. With this fundraising we will collect funds to facilitate our educational development projects in Kenya. You will read more in our newsletter soon to be published. East African Sound is now the resident sound of Reggae Sunday club at Club Ksjot in Utrecht, we perform at club Ksjot every Sunday. You can book us for your festival, birthday bash, wedding, product promotion and club evenings. We hope to come and entertain you soon.
